COOPER!!
AKC/UKC GRCH.CH.
Alpha's Cooperative Effort
We are extremely proud of this homebred boy.
Cooper finished his AKC championship in 10 shows with 5 majors and no less than reserve. His UKC Championship was won in a weekend of 4 total shows, with a Group 4 and a Group 2 in TOUGH Northern breed competition. His UKC GRAND Championship was harder, because he had to compete with some of his offspring. To see a sampling of what he is producing, check the links to the left.Links will be active when pages are finished.
Cooper is showy, typy and has excellent movement, all in a neat
21 1/4" package.
He is eye-checked clear and his PennHIP score is acceptable and above average.

He also has a lovely head & expression,
neat, well-placed ears, and strong bone.
But most important is Cooper's sweet disposition. He loves everyone!
And everyone who meets him,
loves Cooper.

This is Cooper's AKC finishing picture. The judge is Luc Boileau, and Cooper is handled by his sire's owner, and our good friend, Kathleen Hamilton.
Mr. Boileau gave Cooper this breed win over his sire and said,
"THIS is the kind of elkhound I like to see, just the right size and type."
Cooper came home from this weekend and began a "new career"...as our top sire. With limited breeding, Cooper has produced 6 AKC Champions, 10 UKC Champions, and 3 UKC GRAND Champions.
Cooper's mother is our lovely
States Kennel Club Best in Show winner,
Ch.Alpha's I See Double
("Hoover")

Hoover: a 'breeder's dream'...beautiful from all angles, typy as they come, feminine, dripping with charm and personality, an exceptionally true mover, and highly intelligent.
She may very well have been our 'once in a lifetime elkhound, but ...
It is now our goal to breed another one just like her.
Cooper is very much his mother's son, and since Hoover is now retired, our hopes are that he will carry on Hoover's attributes in his own offspring.

Cooper's handsome sire,
Ch.Windy City's-Ashlawn Rainman
(aka "Dustin")
died on November 2nd, 2001. He was a young dog who was much loved and we mourn him deeply. Dustin has his own page which can be viewed by clicking on his picture above
Cooper followed up his AKC Championship with a UKC championship in one weekend of 4 shows. We had hoped to make him the first UKC GRAND Champion in the breed, but his first son, "Tex" beat him to the punch, and Cooper was the second. At this time there are only four Grand Champions, Cooper, Tex, another Cooper son,Tucker, and Trish, Cooper's daughter. Cooper has a total of 9 UKC champion offspring, and 6 that are champions in the AKC. Others are pointed and on their way to adding to those numbers.
FLASH!!!
Cooper was brought out of retirement for one weekend and won a Reserve Best in Multi-Breed Show [RBIMBS] at the Mason-Dixon Multibreed Dog Association Fall show, November 2006, in Simpsonville, Kentucky. This win made him the #3 Elkhound in the Top Ten, behind 4 of his offspring. Cooper was 6.5 years old.
